Hi There!
I'm Alyssa, a Michigan artist with a deep love of classic literature, color, and all things cozy. Every piece in my shop is hand drawn by me, starting with a pencil sketch before being refined in Procreate with color and texture. I grew up in a family of makers. My grandmother embroidered little flowers on my pajamas and made my sister and me pillowcases featuring our favorite fairy tale and nursery rhyme characters. My mom sewed me the rainbow dresses of my dreams, and my dad, a passionate woodworker, built us the most beautiful fairy tale-inspired cottage playhouse, complete with working windows and flower boxes. I know firsthand the love that goes into making something by hand and the joy of receiving something handmade that makes you feel seen. My work is inspired by the people who came before me and taught me that sharing creativity with others is one of the greatest acts of love.
I've always been a reader. My most prized possession as a child was a towering stack of Little Golden Books. Later, I progressed to checking out Little Women an unhinged number of times from my middle school library, and these days you'll probably find me binge-watching The Other Bennet Sister on BritBox or hunting for another beautiful edition to add to my bookshelves.
I love libraries, and I love collecting classic literature. While rereading some of my favorite books this year, I decided it would be fun to create cozy artwork inspired by the stories that have shaped the way I see the world. The Wizard of Oz Collection is live now, with Pride and Prejudice, Anne of Green Gables, the Brontë sisters, and many more on the way.
When I'm not drawing, you'll usually find me reading with my dog, Cooper, exploring the library with my husband, Sean, embroidering, baking, or playing the harp. By day, I work as a literacy consultant, helping support reading and learning in public schools.
